Fireplace TV Mounting in Austin
Yes, a TV can be mounted over most Austin fireplaces. The cost is the flat size-based rate ($69 to $179) plus $25 for above-fireplace and $25 for brick, stone, or other masonry. We check mantel depth and firebox heat before drilling and anchor into the masonry itself, never the mortar joints.
Above the fireplace is the spot most people should not DIY. We check mantel depth and firebox heat before drilling anything, then anchor into real masonry instead of the mortar joints, so the TV stays put and stays cool.

Method
How we do it
Heat clearance checked first
Mantel depth and firebox output get measured before any drill comes out. A spot that will cook the TV gets a flat no from us, along with a better spot.
Real masonry anchors
Brick gets sleeve anchors. Stone gets epoxy anchors. Mortar joints and plastic wall plugs get nothing, ever.
Tile and stone drilling done clean
Diamond bits, low speed, vacuum on every hole, hearth covered before we start.
Two flat add-ons, that is all
Above-fireplace is a flat $25, and a brick, stone, or other masonry surface is another flat $25. That is the whole surcharge, and it is the same number on the price page.
What it costs
Flat pricing, no surprises
Every option is a flat number, posted on the pricing page. Enter your ZIP to book and see the exact total before you confirm.
FAQ
Fireplace Mounting questions
Will the fireplace heat hurt a TV mounted above it?
Depends what is burning down there. Gas insert with a mantel over it? The mantel kicks the heat out toward the couch, so the screen above stays in the clear. Open wood fire, no mantel? That heat rides straight up the wall and the TV soaks it up all evening, which shortens its life. We read the setup when we arrive and tell you yes or no before a single hole goes in.
What does over-fireplace mounting cost?
Base price by TV size ($69 to $179), plus $25 for above-fireplace, plus $25 if the surface is brick, stone, or other masonry. Drywall above a fireplace only carries the $25 fireplace line.
What about hiding the cables on brick or stone?
Solid brick and stone have no hollow behind them, so in-wall routing is out on the masonry itself. Two options instead. Drywall touching the masonry? We drop the cable into that and the cord vanishes for real. Masonry all the way down? A paintable cord channel ($20) runs down the face, and once it is painted to match the wall most people stop noticing it.
How high will the TV sit?
As low as the mantel lets us. We check the sight line from your couch, not a generic formula, and set the height off that.
